Who was Christopher Whitehouse?
A Thumb-nail of Christopher
Just another Staten Island kid going to public schools, Christopher Whitehouse became a remarkable and accomplished adult whose life was far too short.
At the time of his death at the age of 29, from heart failure, he was studying for his doctorate in clinical psychology and doing field work at the University of Florida.
His highly effective and innovative counseling of troubled teens, including convicted felons, was favorably acknowledged by his instructors. His methods set a standard for “best practices” which the Christopher Whitehouse Foundation Inc. is dedicated to continue.
Christopher's Legacy
Christopher was compassionate, that is a given, but he was also a very affable and optimistic person. He loved track and field, both coaching and participating, and was good at both. He was champion decathlete at The University of West Virginia and later coached All Americans at Northeast Louisiana University.
He loved animals (see him greeting a turtle, upper right). He always had a cat in his life, including strays and adopted shelter cats. And he loved to have fun. As a kid he once begged his parents to take a picture of him just after he squeezed his nose closed (see lower left).
It's no surprise that many of Christopher’s friends continue to support his foundation today, some are even directors on the board.
