Join Us for the 27th Annual Fundraising Dinner

We’re honored to announce that the 27th Annual Christopher Whitehouse Foundation Fundraising Dinner will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at The Staaten (697 Forest Avenue, Staten Island). Hors d’oeuvres begin at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner at 7:00 PM.

An Evening of Special Recognitions

The dinner this year will honor four special people for their contributions to the foundation; past directors Karen Kennedy and Luci Paul, current director Bob Newman, and founding member Henry Scroope.

This cherished once‑a‑year gathering remains our sole major fundraising event — and this year, your presence carries extraordinary meaning.

A Year Marked by Unprecedented Need

As we close the academic year, the Foundation has awarded 190 grants, surpassing every previous annual total. Behind this milestone lies a sobering reality:

  • Family crises are rising sharply. Many students faced sudden loss of income, illness, or the death of a parent. Housing instability and medical emergencies appeared again and again.
  • Basic school needs have become out of reach. Transportation, clothing, supplies, and personal essentials — once manageable — now strain families to the breaking point.
  • Senior‑year milestones are slipping away. Dozens of students could not afford proms, trips, rings, yearbooks, or even caps and gowns. Without assistance, many would have missed these once‑in‑a‑lifetime moments entirely.
  • Special needs students continue to fall through the cracks. Essential items not covered by entitlements were funded through CWF’s support.
  • Outreach has expanded — and so has the need. Teachers, counselors, and community partners submitted more requests than ever before, identifying students with nowhere else to turn.

The message is clear: our reach has grown, but the need is rising even faster.

Your Support Makes the Difference

Every grant represents a young person whose education, stability, and dignity depended on timely help. Your generosity made it possible for us to respond quickly and compassionately — ensuring no student faced hardship alone.
